The winter solstice, our shortest day and longest night of the year, is today, December 21, 2020. Luckily, from this day forward, each day a minute of sunlight is added until we get to June 21st the longest day of the year.
People tend to struggle in the winter especially in the north with cold, dark, bleak days. The chaos of the holidays or in some cases the loneliness, compounds feelings of depression. Winter may just be getting started, but our long, dark nights are about to turn a bit brighter. The winter solstice signals the rebirth of the Sun; it’s the longest night of the year, but afterwards the nights begin to get shorter, and the days longer.
