GRx Gives Back

Helping Neighbors in Need

Many thanks to the kind and thoughtful employees of GRx who donated 530lbs of toiletry items and 256lbs of food to Island Harvest, a leading hunger-relief food bank that provides food and other resources to people in need. More than 94% of resources directly support their programs and services for 316,000 Long Islanders.

Island Harvest was created in 1992 by one woman with a cooler, a station wagon, and a strong desire to help people in need. Linda Breitstone, noticed that food from a local convenience store was being thrown away at the end of the day, while a safe house for women and children was located right down the block. She felt this was a travesty and decided to act. She established Island Harvest with a mission statement that reads in part, “to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island.”

We’d also like to send a big shout out to our HR Administrator Brenda and Receiving Manager, Roe, who go above and beyond by coordinating this annual food drive and helping our Long Island neighbors in need.
